Is it still a fast bike by today's standards?
Bike porn
What a stupid design, dirts and muds all on the top of bb🤮, designer must be fired
Update?
There is a full playlist on the channel for this
Di2 has it down to a science
7yrs later and I noticed there is no "Assembled USA" badge...old fakes at one time
I fitted 30mm [measured] i forgot the rim width🤣 i also used the cane creek eebrake
The wheels im using is hed ardennes black
that thing looks fast!
Nice build so far. Can't wait to see it finished. Good to see there are still some rim brake lovers out there.
I'm trying to save them one bike at a time haha, Have another secret project in a box
There should be a huge weight difference between these groupsets. This 11 speed Campagnolo Record, if I m not mistake, is even lighter than its Dura-Ace 9100 couter part. It should be mentioned that functionally whise with this Campagnolo groupset you can change gears quicker in the rear derailleur to a small cog (Ultrashift). It can change multiple gears in one go up and down the cassette. Shimano can shift multiple gears only in one direction, up the cassette.
Great looking Caad12.
Cheers!
sick bike Joe
Cheers!
You need to do whatever fits with your fleet and riding goals. I wouldn't want to spend a lot of money on an older S5. But if I was racing crits or really wanted a KOM on a local climb, I may spend some money on it.
I'm not sure why Campagnolo does such a lousy job of marketing their amazing product. The bike industry is starting to wake up to the reality that customers are done with buying new bikes with electronic shifting and impractical disc brakes. People are now buying used bikes that are 5-10 years old. Campagnolo should capitalize on the opportunity and offer more tiers again. The new Super Record Wireless was the dumbest idea they could have made. They should have just made EPS wireless, kept the thumb lever and rim brakes, and offer it for record and chorus. The current wireless shifters are stupid-heavy and I've heard that shifting is painful due to the sharp edges. Why would anyone spend $4,500 for that? Having said that, I'm thinking I should buy 12 Speed SR mechanical/rim while I can.
What size are your cranks? Are you running 170mm?
Hi there, Yes 170mm
Great to see you back and looking forward to the updates!
Thankyou!!
Beautiful looking bike! How’s the ride comfort wise? I’m on steel and have been for 20 years now, just wondering how it would compare as I’ve never ridden an aluminum bike.
It was abit rough until I put the carbon post in it, But since then its been amazing!
Just found your channel, great content. I tried disc brakes on a recent build, Colnago C64 and sold it after three rides. The noise from the brakes, either rubbing or when they over heating on long descents, absolutely did my bulb in! I ride all year round, 180-200 miles a week minimum and spend more time climbing than descending. The industry, that’s on its backside at the moment can keep them!
Glad you enjoy the channel! Joined at the right time as alot to come if all goes well!
Bling Bling!
I have a caad12 too. In my opinion campy groupset and the bora wheelset best to match with Italian frame.😂
Nah why limit a great groupset to only Italian frames
@@JoesCyclingReviews no doubt you are doing proper build with passion. Ok I learn that 😂
I rode Paris roubaix juniors on this bike yesterday lol

Sweet caad12 how much does it weigh? ive got a size 54 with sram red 11 speed still mech shifting 16lbs 11 oz with a heap carbon wheelset. going to invest into s some real weight savers soon looking to hit 6.8kg
Lightest I got it was 6.4kg but that was with C24 tubs
Hi Joe, Thank you for putting this unboxing up. So may I ask you do find the 46.5 is 1124.9 wide? for the extra wide?
What's your height ?
5'9"
Is the project finished yet? I would love to see the final result. Also did a P5 build recently. It's super fast
Actually have a video coming out soon on this, Huge progress. Planning to have it done by the end of May all going well
How to solving issue, what i feel inside very hard, and touching had directly, i there any solution ?
I've never had this issue personally, Maybe add some more padding in?
Rust problems with the clear coat?
None at all
Reckon you can get away with 32mm width wheels on this?
They would fit, I wouldn't personally use them though
Thank you
How will you mount a front light to this integrated handlebar? i have the same IC SL handlebar
My front light uses a rubber band so I have no issues
Aside from micro shift groupset. Do we still have any brand of groupset that will fit for cannondale topstone 4?
You could fit pretty much any gravel groupset on this bike
It’s crazy that this is a 1999.... My first road bike was (still own) a 1989 Campy Athena spec’d 3.0 Criterium frame...blue and white...Cannondale also made a red/white Campy built model... I have bought a few more 89/90 3.0 frames ....one such frame is also a Crit, and has a beautiful dark to royal blue fade paint job...I, keeping it as is with some minor chips and rub marks...it has it’s matching Sakae fork and is getting Chorus or Record 10 speed, I have a damn near new set of Campy Eurus wheels, black Thomson seat pot and a NOS Selle Flite Ti saddle...and Look pedals...
The good old days where you had new models every few years and not few months!
SICK SICK SICK, huge fan of Cannondale and RS-1 !!! Your bike is SICK mate.
Where did you get the handlebars from please mate ?
Ended up having to go to a random Scott dealer in Italy that had one left in stock
@@JoesCyclingReviews thanks for getting back to me mate 👍
Solid wheels like that can only be used indoors or on non-windy days.
I've used them in pretty windy conditions without issue
Fantastic ride, looks really good. Did you change the headset bearing top cap? If so, what did you use? My Caad12 came with a way taller one.
I did! It was a company called Slam That Stem online!
Which Topstone model is this, please?
Carbon 4
Which Topstone model is this?
Carbon 4
I’d have a (myocardial infarction) if MY bike was that dirty- especially the handlebar tape. 😮
How did you stick the blip box to the frame? And what mount? Thanks
The mount came with the box, It had double sided 3m tape pre applied
I won’t knock Shimano BTW…Japanese manufacturing design R&D is top shelf….my family background is Italian so I don’t really have a choice in the matter…. Made in Japan was a buy word for cheap/low quality after WW2….America helped rebuild the AXIS country’s industrial sectors in a gesture of good faith and in recognition of a emerging world of Global interconnectedness…. The Japanese looked out from their island nation and recognized the bicycle frames of Italy, the cars of Germany (and Italy 😉) and the motorcycles of Great Britain….they took in the design as inspiration, but acknowledged that these objects were almost perfect in their physical presentation…the Japanese applied their cultural desire for perfection and gave the world back copies and interpretations that are considered as impressive as the originals to this day…. It’s a preference I’m just trying to say 🤷🏼♂️🤣
By word
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Byword
I found this video again like I’ve never seen it before 🤣🤣🤣 But, I’ve just purchased an early Chorus 10 speed group set, from a seller in Italy…it’s the Chorus Generation that adopted the aluminum Record crankset with the drive side arm that overlaps the 5th chainring bolt… Beautiful And, my Eurus 3G wheel set has also arrived…adding everything up for my Cannondale 3.0 build 🚴🏼♂️🚴🫵🏻🥳
Did you have any problems setting up the large cassette? I’ve got a caad 12 also and having trouble setting it up with the 11-34 cassette, haven’t got enough clearance between the upper pulley and the cassette
Personally no issues at all, fitted some Ultegra long cages 11-34 to CAADs before too without issue
Hello. This bike don't have the remote control for the suspension on the handlebar?
Yes it does
Love this 2 bike. But I would love to ride R5.
#saverimbrakebike
Does the Bryton provide speed and distance information using gps or do you need sensors?
I use this without sensors
This might be silly, but Campagnolo parts are just prettier than any other brand.....and that’s becoming harder to come by with the overbuilt/ oversized trend in components.... And I want to be Attracted to my bike😍
Hood shape is huge....the majority of the time you’re not actually shifting....just dealing with your points of contact....feet ass hands...so those better be secure and comfortable....to the point you don’t “notice” or have to think about them
My fist serious road bike was built around a new old stock/stripped down Cannondale 3.0 “Campagnolo” frame....two tone, white in front, blue back....and was sold new with a Athena groupset....this was long gone....and so was the matching white Sakae front fork.... My shop used a bare/polished aluminum Sakae fork and Campy Mirage 9 speed, ttt stem bars, which are still on the bike..and Selle post? And saddle which were soon swapped...Mavic rims laced to the Campy hubs....I bought Rolf Vector Pros two years after.... Campagnolo cable routing, hood shape, and shift lever positions all contributed to my preference for Campy....and many the biggest reason is that both sides of my family are from Italy 🙄.....REASON AND LOGIC BE DAMNED....CAMPAGNOLO IT IS!!!
